The game

The Play button always offers the right challenge, from age 6 to 11, without ever showing a school grade. Every missed fact comes back later, at the right time, until it is known by heart.

Facing a guardian is a race: its magic circle builds up while its spell gets ready. Answer right before it does and your spell hits its circle, all the harder as the answer is quick. The first circle to fade out loses.

Every digit typed adds its shape: 3 a triangle, 4 a square, 5 a star… Numbers get a picture, and they are easier to remember.

One island per chapter, a trial at the end of each, and Professor Pythagoras waiting at the Summit.

Every win brings fragments of the guardian’s card. The S, SS or SSS rank, based on speed and accuracy, gives more fragments and a silver, gold or rainbow frame. No luck involved: you earn what you deserve.

A QR code scanned face to face, and the friend plays exactly the same challenge. No account, no email address.
Daddy, at first this one (pointing at a level) was hard, but now it’s way too easy!
I am the dad of a girl in primary school. Mental maths and times tables are often the part of maths children like least. I wanted to turn them into a real modern game, with magic, guardians and collectible cards, the game I would have loved as a child. Math Powa was made for her, and it is free so that every child can enjoy it.

No cookies, no trackers, no visit statistics. Progress stays on the device, and links leaving the game ask for an adult first.
The whole game is free. No advertising, no in-app purchases, no paid bonuses.
No sign-up, no email address. Several children can play on the same tablet, each with their own profile.
After 30 minutes of play, the game suggests a break. You choose the length (20, 30, 45 minutes or never) and can make it strict.
The parents area shows the hardest facts, the tables known by heart and those to review.
After two mistakes in a row, an easier question comes. A guardian that is too strong slows down a little after each defeat, and hints show the strategy first, then choices, and the answer only at the very end.

For teachers
Math Powa extends the lessons at home, on the family computer, tablet or phone.
Every fact is tracked in Leitner boxes: a known fact comes back less and less often, a missed one comes back soon.
